Day 85: Books

Books + papers + glasses = winter term 2011

This term, books haven’t been so bad yet. They’ve actually been pretty affordable. It looks like there’s going to be so much busy work ahead of me this term, I’ve really got to get to it. Tonight, the first thing I’ve have to do is read four books of the Odyssey. I have papers, assignments, and so much reading due this week already; I can’t believe it! I went to the store today to get some Advil. I’ll definitely be needing it this term.

Also, I took this with a 1600 ISO, partly because it’s not a clever shot and partly because I got some advice to “love the grain.”  I think for this shot, I’m embracing it pretty well! Thanks Jon Yager!

I really like this pic. I have been trying to think of what it reminds me of and then it came to me… That Geico stack of money with eyes! You know the one?

  2. LMAO at your mom’s comment! I can’t believe you haven’t seen those Geico commercials. Too funny! I really like this book shot too…you inspired me to do one earlier in your blog, so I guess I better get busy at it. 🙂

    • Hahaha, Thanks Bonnie! And yeah, get to it! Books are pretty easy subjects, hehe. Did you see Jim’s book shot with his glasses? It was a long time ago, but I really liked it too!

Ahh, I remember the days of those book stacks! Enjoy the Odyssey 😉

Nice Grain!! 🙂 Really nice photo, simple but tells a great story. Brings back a lot of memories! BTW, I love both the iliad and the odyssey . . . but I’m a bit weird. Also, one of my favorite things is grainy B&W photos – next time you find yourself stuck inside play with that.

    Isn’t Jon amazing!

I think you make the shot whatever you want, if you make a mistake, make it work 🙂 You aren’t constrained by what you think is a conventionally pretty photo! You have a great eye so trust it girl! Love this shot, it tells me a lot about you!

    • Thanks Mindy! And, yeah for sure, he’s amazing! I think I’m getting better at trusting my instincts.. There’s not as many pretty photos now that it’s winter and everything is dead, so I’m going to have to trust lots more! Maybe an opportunity for more portraits or something 🙂
