Day 365: One Year

As my project365 was coming to a close, I couldn’t stop thinking about how the last year of my life has been. Some days, especially in the beginning, project365 was one of the only things that kept me going. As I look back at project365, there’s hardly any day that I wouldn’t want to live through again. It has been a crazy year but a good year. This project365 was more than just photography for me. As I look back at all the photos, blog posts and comments, I can hardly believe this was all in the past year. As the weather changed and my photos morphed into different themes and scenes, I can’t help but think about how my life slowly morphed into something completely different than when this all started one year ago.

My blog is something that kept me positive. For the first few months, I didn’t allow myself to post anything negative. Looking back on it, it makes me remember that things really weren’t as awful as they seemed. The bad days I went through pushed me harder to take great photos.

In some ways, I feel like I’m in the same place as when I started this project365, but in some ways I feel like I’m in a completely different place. I’m not going to give project365 all the credit for my new outlooks and strength in life, but I will give you all a lot of credit. Project365 would not have been the same if I didn’t have all of you reading everyday. So, THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! I’m so happy to meet my fellow project365-ers; you all are just amazing.

I couldn’t think of a better way to end this project than where I began on Day One. This is the same spot, same tree, same branch as October 11th 2010. The only thing that is different is the leaves and the weather. How cool is that? I think it sums up this project365 really well; I’m in the same place, but one year forward. It’s been one more year of learning, understanding and, most importantly, photographing.

More symbolic than a favorite photo, but I like it nonetheless.

There’s no way I’m going to be able to handle another project365 as I enter my senior year of college. I have absolutely no idea where I will be in one year from now, but I do know that I don’t want to be tied down to the Internet every single day. I know that blogging and taking an obscene number of photos will be in my life this year. I’m not going to stop posting photos to this blog, but I’m definitely not posting everyday if I don’t have a photo to post everyday. I’ll try to force myself to get outside and take photos because sometimes those are the best photos! On that note, why don’t I get to the main point of this long post… I LOVE PROJECT365!!

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to see any year as anything but a project365, so I guess I don’t really have to say goodbye.
